ATC Is the Only Malaysian RTC Awarded the Mcintosh Scholarship

Advance Tertiary College has been awarded a Mcintosh Scholarship bursary by the University of London. ATC is the only Recognised Teaching Centre in Malaysia to receive it, and one of just 28 institutions selected worldwide.

The funding will be used to award scholarships to new students joining the University of London LLB programme in the 2026/2027 academic year. ATC will match the amount awarded to every student who receives one.

What is the Mcintosh Scholarship?

The Mcintosh Scholarship is a bursary fund created by the University of London through a donation from alumnus Dr Robert McIntosh. Rather than distributing the money directly to individuals, the University channels a portion of the fund through selected Recognised Teaching Centres.

Those centres then award scholarships to their own students. The design is deliberate. Teaching centres know their students, understand local financial pressures, and can direct support where it makes a real difference.

Recognised Teaching Centres apply for a share of the fund. Twenty-eight institutions worldwide were successful. The University has described the scheme as strengthening its partnership with teaching centres and improving access to education with long-term impact.

The bursary is available for the 2026/2027 academic year only.

Why being the only Malaysian centre matters

Malaysia has several institutions teaching the University of London LLB. ATC is the only one that applied successfully for this fund.

Selection was not automatic. Centres had to make a case for how the money would be used and who it would reach. Being chosen reflects how the University assesses ATC’s teaching, student outcomes and the way the college supports its students.

ATC is matching the funds
