ATC Student Rachel Lo Wun Shuang Named Best Student Nationwide for Two CLP Subjects

Advance Tertiary College (ATC) proudly congratulates Ms. Rachel Lo Wun Shuang, who has emerged as the top student nationwide in two subjects in the CLP exam: General Paper and Criminal Procedure. The awards were announced at the CLP Convocation ceremony held on 30 April 2026, recognising her outstanding results in the CLP 2025 examination. Rachel also passed the CLP on her very first attempt.

A Rare Double Achievement

More than 1,000 candidates registered for the CLP Main Examination 2025, all sitting the same papers marked to a strict national standard. To finish first in the country in even one subject is remarkable. To do it in two, General Paper and Criminal Procedure, while passing the entire examination on a first attempt, places Rachel in a class of her own.

The CLP exam is widely regarded as one of the most demanding professional examinations in Malaysia, and many capable graduates need more than one sitting to clear it. Candidates are required to reach the pass mark in every subject, and there is no room for a weak paper. What Is the CLP Exam?

The Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) is the professional examination administered by the Legal Profession Qualifying Board, Malaysia. Graduates holding recognised foreign law degrees, including the University of London LLB, must pass the CLP before they can be admitted to practise as advocates and solicitors in Malaysia.

Candidates sit five papers: General Paper, Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Evidence, and Professional Practice. Because the CLP is a single national examination, every candidate in the country answers the same papers, and the best student awards recognise the highest achievers across all institutions. The examination tests not just knowledge of the law, but the ability to apply it to practical scenarios under strict time pressure, which is exactly what makes a national award so meaningful.
